It’s every couples' goal to host a wedding that can withstand the test of time. But how do you achieve an aesthetic that is simple yet still elegant? The answer: greenery! That’s right, lush bundles and garlands of fresh greenery, whether it’s Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, Leather Leaf Fern, or Israeli Ruscus. To help you host a modern and memorable event, here are just a few creative ways to use greenery at your wedding, from the ceremony through the reception.

Lush Ceremony Decor

Starting with your ceremony, let's just establish that next to everything looks good dripping in greenery. The most common decor choice however is draping an arbor, of any shape or size, in greenery. For a more minimal look, you can keep it a little more sparse. Whereas for a luxe look you might cover the entire arbor. The aisle is also simple to decorate, whether you create a border along the inner aisle way or tie bundles to the aisle chairs. For a more ethereal look, create arrangements with more volume. Lastly, depending on your venue, you might decorate the ceiling. From exposed beams to chandeliers, wrapping ivy around these will help tie the room together - especially if the venue features a vaulted ceiling.

A Memorable Entrance

One area that couples often overlook is the entrance to the reception area or venue. You can easily create some excitement by decorating the entryway, regardless of what it looks like. If need be, you can even create an entryway using pipe and drape, greenery and string lights. Otherwise, you might frame an existing doorway with garland. Or, frame the corners using asymmetrical arrangements. Opting for looser arrangements, versus a straight line, will lend a more romantic and organic look.

Spruce up Simple Signage

Nowadays, almost every wedding will feature some kind of signage. Whether it be a welcome sign, a seating chart, a bar menu, or all of the above. And one way to spruce them up is with a little, or a lot, of greenery. If your signage is perched or hanging on a stand, it's simple enough to wrap greenery around the base. Or for a more luxurious look, consider going with a grounded arrangement that creeps towards the base of your sign.

An Ethereal Reception

As with the ceremony, your reception can feature as little or as much greenery as you like. It’s a popular choice for those who want a beautiful but minimalistic vibe. Simply showcase small touches of greenery throughout your event space. For example, your tablescape might feature a single garland dotted with votive candles. Alternatively, go big and opt for hanging greenery. This will achieve a look that is more high-end, yet still timeless. You can also use it to decorate the ceiling, especially if your event is hosted in a tent. This is an effective way to pull a space small together, like a wedding lounge.

Tasteful Cake Decor

Another classic way to feature greenery at your wedding, is on your wedding cake! Flowers are a popular choice, and usually match your decor. So if you plan to feature greenery elsewhere at your event, why not carry the theme over? Using greenery on your wedding cake will lend a timeless look, but it’s also a great way to lend some color to a plain or minimalistic design.

A Timeless Photo Op

Nowadays, almost every wedding will feature some kind of photo opportunity. Usually at the reception, often at the entryway. This is a great way to encourage guests to take and share photos at your event. But if you want to use them later, then we recommend opting for a more timeless backdrop - like this boxwood wall! Decorated with fresh greenery and a neon sign, you can trust that your friend and family member's photos will be worth saving.
